Ike Turner, inventor of domestic abuse, died yesterday. Known for Tim Meadow's Saturday Night Live impression of him, Ike Turner had a hand in the creation of rock and roll. The same hand often was seen to have traveled across the face of his wife. When Mr. Turner began beating his domestic and singing partner, Tina Turner, he did so in obscurity. It was not until the mid-nineties that Mr. Turner's abuse would achieve national recognition. Ike Turner was a Grammy-nominated batterer, who made several of hits with Tina Turner.
